NATO to allocate $40 billion for drone countermeasures
NATO is launching an initiative to combat UAVs, into which $40 billion will be invested, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced at the Defense Industry Forum as part of the NATO summit.
"Today we are launching the 'NATO Drone Edge' initiative. Under this initiative, allies will invest more than $40 billion in drone countermeasures over the next five years," he said. "Since these capabilities require the presence of appropriate personnel to manage them, allies also commit to training five times more drone operators in their armed forces by the end of 2027."
