U.S. and Iran strike each other's military facilities
The naval and aerospace forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) carried out retaliatory strikes following American attacks on Iranian military facilities.
As reported by 1news.az, the IRGC statement is cited by the Fars agency.
It emphasizes that the U.S. attacks aimed to "eclipse the farewell ceremony" for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
"The naval and aerospace forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in the course of a joint missile-drone operation, destroyed 85 important U.S. military facilities in Port Salman, the area of the Fifth Fleet [U.S. Navy] in Bahrain and at Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and also shot down one MQ-9 UAV," the statement says.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also reported attacks on more than 80 targets during nighttime strikes on Iranian facilities.
In addition, according to CENTCOM, more than 60 IRGC boats were attacked.
