President Ilham Aliyev lays foundation of Hakari River reservoir in Lachin
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 11 laid the foundation of the Hakari River reservoir in Lachin.
As AZERTAC reports, Chairman of the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan Zaur Mikayilov informed President Ilham Aliyev about the project.
It was noted that according to the project, on the Hakari River, which forms within the borders of Azerbaijan, it is planned to create a reservoir with a total capacity of 100 million cubic meters, with a useful volume of 90 million cubic meters. Also, a main pipeline with a capacity of 8 cubic meters per second and a length of about 172 kilometers will be built.
This infrastructure will have the potential to provide high-quality drinking water at a rate of 2.5 cubic meters per second to about 700 thousand people in the Lachin, Gubadli, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Khojavend, and Aghdam districts.
On the main pipeline fed from the Hakari River reservoir, it is also planned to build 3 hydroelectric power stations (HPPs) with a total capacity of 10.81 MW.
It should be noted that the Hakari River reservoir, along with ensuring uninterrupted supply of high-quality drinking water to the population, will play an important role in the rational management of water resources in the territories liberated from occupation, improving the water supply of the region, as well as other major cities of our country and supporting the socio-economic development of the regions.
