Three powerful earthquakes occur off the coast of Kamchatka in one hour
Three powerful earthquakes were recorded off the coast of Kamchatka within an hour.
This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 occurred at 14:48 local time 210 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The hypocenter was at a depth of 64.6 kilometers. Six minutes later, slightly less powerful tremors were reported, which seismologists estimated at a magnitude of 5.7. The epicenter was located 206 kilometers from the regional center. The hypocenter was at a depth of 72 kilometers.
At 15:42 local time, a third earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 was recorded 207 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The hypocenter was at a depth of 70.1 kilometers.
No tsunami threat was declared for the coast of Kamchatka. No information about casualties or destruction as a result of the natural disaster has been received.
