Hakan Fidan calls on Russia and Ukraine not to allow escalation in the Black Sea
The risk of the Russian-Ukrainian war spreading to the region remains a serious threat, and the security of the Black Sea heightens this concern.
As Report reports, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated this in Kyiv at a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
He noted that striking fishing vessels and tankers in the Black Sea is unacceptable: "We state that both sides should exercise caution on this issue."
According to the minister, there is currently a stalemate in diplomatic contacts between Russia and Ukraine, while on the other hand, attacks have intensified even further.
Fidan stated that Turkey has been providing Ukraine with political and military support since the first day of the war: "As stated at the NATO summit, this support will continue. Turkey continues contacts with both countries. We continue to provide support for the earliest possible end to the war. In the future, Turkey will continue to provide diplomatic support for negotiations between the two countries."
