In Ukraine number of vice prime ministers decreased while number of ministries increased

The number of vice prime ministers in the new Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decreased from four to three, while the number of ministries, due to the division of large departments, has increased from 15 to 17.

At the time of the resignation of Yulia Sviridenko's government, it included four vice prime ministers (including one first vice prime minister) and 12 ministers heading 15 ministries. Thus, together with the prime minister, the government consisted of 17 members.

On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada, on the proposal of the newly appointed Prime Minister Sergei Koretsky, approved a new composition of the Ukrainian government in a slightly changed configuration.

Thus, the current government will have three vice prime ministers (one of whom is the first) and 15 ministers who will head 17 ministries. Thus, together with the prime minister, after the appointment of the minister of defense and the minister of foreign affairs, the Cabinet will consist of 19 members of the government.

This increase in the number of ministries is associated with another division of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture into the Ministry of Economy and Environment and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

The government also no longer has the position of vice prime minister for the restoration of Ukraine – minister for the development of communities and territories, nor the corresponding ministry. In the new Cabinet, these functions are distributed between the newly created Ministry for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons and the Ministry of Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport.

Thus, the composition of the current government is as follows: prime minister; first vice prime minister – minister of energy; vice prime minister for humanitarian policy – minister of culture; vice prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration; minister for communities, territories and internally displaced persons; minister for youth and sports; minister of education and science; minister of internal affairs; minister of agrarian policy and food; minister for restoration, infrastructure and transport; minister for veterans affairs; minister of economy and environment; minister of health; minister of finance; minister of justice; minister of social policy, family and unity; minister of digital transformation; minister of defense (not yet appointed); minister of foreign affairs (not yet appointed).
