Apple again becomes the world's most valuable company, overtaking Nvidia
Apple has once again become the world's most valuable public company, surpassing chipmaker Nvidia in market capitalization.
Following Monday's trading, Apple shares rose more than one percent, bringing the company's market value to approximately 4.94 trillion dollars. This allowed it to reclaim the top spot among the world's public companies, ahead of Nvidia, whose market capitalization is estimated at approximately 4.83 trillion dollars.
Since the beginning of the year, Apple shares have risen more than 22 percent, showing the highest growth among the largest technology corporations. Analysts attribute this dynamic to shifting investor sentiment, with growing interest in companies less dependent on massive spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Market participants believe Apple's valuation growth stems from a broader revaluation of the technology sector. While investor focus was previously centered on companies actively investing in the development of artificial intelligence technologies, some capital has recently begun shifting toward other major industry players.
Over the past year, Nvidia remained the leader in the global market capitalization ranking, taking first place in June of last year by overtaking Microsoft amid surging demand for graphics processors and other equipment for artificial intelligence systems. Nvidia was the first company in history to surpass the five-trillion-dollar market capitalization mark.
Despite the change in leadership, Nvidia continues to hold strong positions in the stock market. Since the beginning of the year, its shares have increased in value by approximately seven percent, but the growth rate was lower than Apple's, ultimately allowing the iPhone maker to regain its status as the world's most valuable public company.
