Actress Mary Rivera, known for her role in "Spider-Man," has died

Mary Rivera, who played the grandmother of Spider-Man's friend in the film "Spider-Man: No Way Home," has died at the age of 82, TMZ reports, citing one of the actress's family members.

According to the outlet's source, Mary Rivera suffered a stroke and fell into a coma. Doctors warned her relatives that even if she came out of this state, her health would not recover. In light of this, the family made the decision to take their relative off life support. She was later cremated.

As her loved ones recounted, Mary was proud of her role in the Marvel film. According to TMZ, it was her relatives who persuaded her to go to the audition.

The actress is survived by her husband, children, 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" is the third Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland, released in 2021.

In the plot, Peter Parker accidentally opens up the multiverse, and villains from previous films end up in his world. The picture also featured Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the roles of Spider-Man.

The film grossed more than $1.8 billion and received an Oscar nomination.
