Media: Trump is in no hurry to resume large-scale strikes on Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has returned to a wait-and-see approach toward Iran, the newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) writes, citing unnamed officials in the American administration.

According to its information, "unwilling to continue a full-scale war and wary of diplomatic negotiations, Trump is applying a wait-and-see approach that will give more time for financial sanctions and the American blockade of Iran's seaports to inflict economic damage." Such tactics, the publication writes, have been actively promoted by the U.S. president's aides.

At the same time, some experts point out that Iran may fight back under such tactics. "Could an American blockade of Iran worsen an already difficult economic situation? Certainly, which is exactly why no one should expect Iran to sit idly by. It will fight back," the publication quotes the opinion of Eric Brewer, who previously worked in the American administration and intelligence agencies, dealing among other things with issues of the Iranian nuclear program. "Iran has proved that it has a higher pain threshold than the United States. I see nothing that would indicate a change in this. The U.S. has no good options, only bad ones."
