Zeekr 7X catches fire near a charging station in China - VIDEO

The Zeekr 7X electric crossover caught fire near a charging station in the Chinese city of Ningbo.

According to CarNewsChina, the incident occurred on August 9.

Footage published online shows that at the moment of the fire the vehicle was not connected to a charger. For this reason, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown so far.

Eyewitnesses report that the car caught fire suddenly. At the start of the fire, a sound resembling an explosion was heard, after which thick smoke poured out of the vehicle. This was followed by popping sounds, sparks, and open flames. However, the fire did not manage to fully engulf the car.

No one was injured as a result of the incident. Firefighters who arrived at the scene extinguished the Zeekr 7X.

It should be noted that cases of Chinese electric vehicles catching fire have been recorded before. In December 2025, 1news.az reported in detail on a high-profile incident involving a Li Auto electric vehicle that burned down completely. The story drew wide attention amid questions about the safety of electric vehicles and the possible financial and reputational consequences for the manufacturer.

More about that case in the article “A moment of truth for Li Auto: a burned-out electric vehicle, losses, and strategic uncertainty”.

The causes of the current Zeekr 7X fire have yet to be determined.
