Alen Simonyan replaces Armen Grigoryan as Secretary of Armenia's Security Council - UPDATE

Alen Simonyan has been appointed Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.

He replaces Armen Grigoryan in this post. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Earlier, during a government meeting, Pashinyan announced that Grigoryan was participating as Secretary of the Security Council for the last time. He had held the position for nearly eight years.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan intends to appoint former parliament speaker Alen Simonyan, who was left without any post after the June 7 parliamentary elections, as secretary of the Security Council, the online resource MakaryanNews reports.

Earlier, the newspaper "Hraparak" wrote that Pashinyan was not inclined to reappoint the current secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, to the position.

"Pashinyan has found a position for Alen Simonyan corresponding to his former status, and will soon appoint him to a rather influential post. In particular, according to the information we have received, in the coming days Pashinyan intends to appoint Simonyan to the post of secretary of the Security Council, where he will replace Armen Grigoryan," the report says.
