Charter plane carrying eight people crashes in Alaska
A charter plane with eight passengers on board crashed near a remote radar station in western Alaska.
The information was released by the Associated Press, citing the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board.
The head of the agency's regional office, Clint Johnson, said that there were two pilots and six passengers on board the plane. There is currently no information about their condition. As has become known, the plane took off from Anchorage and crashed on Thursday afternoon as it was approaching for landing at Cape Newenham.
The causes of the incident remain unknown for now. The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center reported the start of a search-and-rescue operation after receiving a report of a plane crash in the vicinity of the long-range radar station at Cape Newenham. The center also noted that updates would be provided as new information came in.
