Twelve people killed in forest fires in Algeria
Twelve people have died as a result of the forest fires that have engulfed Algeria.
This was reported by the newspaper El Ghad El Djazairi, citing Minister of the Interior, Local Government and Transport Said Sayoud.
During a trip to the city of Bejaia in the north of the country, the minister stated that 12 people had died and more than 50 were injured.
Assistance is being provided to the victims.
Thirty-seven fire outbreaks broke out in Algeria on August 26. Five of them occurred in the northeastern province of Jijel, and several families were evacuated, the newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reports.
