Ratko Mladic dies in prison
Former commander of the Bosnian Serb army General Ratko Mladic has died in prison.

Ratko Mladic, who commanded the army of Republika Srpska during the 1992-1995 conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, hid from international justice for 16 years and was arrested by Serbian authorities in 2011. In November 2017, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) found the general guilty on ten of 11 counts of the indictment, including the genocide of Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica in 1995 and violations of the laws and customs of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992-1995. Mladic was sentenced to life imprisonment.
