Moscow does not want a fee for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, but this is a subject for further talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated.

"The most interesting thing is that the Strait of Hormuz was completely open until February 28. After this aggression, Iran showed that it, too, has its own national interests, national pride, and traditions. The history of Persia goes back more than one millennium. Only if the Strait of Hormuz is to be opened now, they are discussing a fee for passage. There was none until the U.S. and Israel began this venture. By the way, we also do not want a fee to be introduced, but this is a subject for further talks," he said in an interview with the RBC television channel.

He noted: "Now the Americans say they are demanding that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz. And the Islamic Republic of Iran says that for this it is necessary to ease or lift the sanctions. And they will do that."

Lavrov emphasized: "Now one of the consequences of the aggression against Iran is that the positions of those in Iran's leadership who say that they warned that without nuclear weapons they would constantly be harassed have sharply strengthened. These positions were marginal under Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, under the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, who were eliminated. Now U.S. President Donald Trump says that they want to talk with them, but there is no one there to talk to, he doesn't know anyone. They killed everyone there."
