Putin: Russia is helping Iran through a difficult period
Russia is trying to provide assistance to Iran during a difficult period and is supplying Tehran with the necessary goods.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Putin noted that Russia also attaches great importance to expanding humanitarian cooperation with Iran. According to him, more and more Iranian students are choosing a Russian education, which Moscow welcomes.
The Russian head of state also said that Russia and Iran, despite the military and political situation, are maintaining last year's momentum in trade and economic relations. In his words, this is facilitated by the regular and effective work of the intergovernmental commission.
Putin emphasized that Russia stands in solidarity with the Iranian people, who are defending their interests. He also asked Pezeshkian to convey words of greeting and sincere support to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Mojtaba Khamenei.
In turn, the Iranian president thanked the Russian leader for his support:
«We thank you for the position that was taken [by Russia] during the war, during all the conflicts and U.S. sanctions. You supported us both at the UN and in other international organizations.»
