Kallas backs moratorium on attacks in the Black Sea

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has backed initiatives to introduce a moratorium on attacks in the Black Sea.

This is stated in the transcript of her press conference following the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Wicklow, Ireland, published by the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Kallas said that attacks on ships carrying grain could lead to a new global food security crisis. According to her, the European Union supports the export of Ukrainian grain via alternative routes and is considering the possibility of providing assistance with its storage on Ukrainian territory.

"But nothing can replace the volumes that can be transported by sea. I support initiatives to introduce a moratorium on attacks in the Black Sea," Kallas said.
