Trump says Republicans will face communists in the elections
The upcoming November midterm elections to the U.S. Congress will be a confrontation between Republicans and communism.
U.S. President Donald Trump made such a statement.
"We will defeat communism in America and vote for American freedom," he said, speaking in Dallas at the national convention of the ruling Republican Party, which is being held ahead of the November midterm elections to the U.S. Congress. The American leader expressed confidence that the Republican Party will manage to retain its positions in Congress following the elections.
According to him, several candidates from the U.S. Democratic Party "call themselves democratic socialists, but in reality they are communists." "If they win, then for the first time the greatest legislative body will be under the control of a communist faction," Trump stated.
The midterm congressional elections will be held on November 3, at which 33 of the 100 members of the Senate and all 435 members of the House of Representatives will be reelected. Republicans currently control both chambers of the legislature.
Party conventions in the United States were previously held every four years ahead of presidential elections.
