Vance urged Americans not to vote for a "bunch of crazy people" Democrats

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has urged his fellow citizens to vote for Republicans in the midterm congressional elections in November, rather than for a "bunch of crazy people" Democrats.

"Do not hand this country over to a bunch of crazy people because you may disagree with one or another of our (Republican - TASS note) policy decisions. I am not asking you to agree with me on everything, I am not asking you to agree with every step of the administration. But I am asking you to recognize the difference between [Republicans] and the radicals, to recognize the achievements [of the U.S. administration] over the past 18 months. We have done a lot and we can do even more if we fight together," he said, speaking on Thursday in Dallas at the national convention of the ruling Republican Party, which is being held ahead of the November midterm congressional elections.

The vice president recalled that his friend and associate, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed in September 2025, opposed any wars. In doing so, Vance effectively acknowledged that the U.S. military operation against Iran had split the Republican camp, but he called for unity ahead of the elections.

"Let me give one example. Charlie [Kirk] hated war, no matter where it was waged - in Europe, in Africa, in the Middle East. He did not care, he simply hated war, those were his views. Of course, there are those who like what we are doing and those who do not like it. I am not here to sort out the disagreements that existed between Charlie and the people he disagreed with. But I am asking you to do as Charlie did - not to throw the baby out with the bathwater," the vice president concluded.
