Egypt's foreign minister rejects idea of creating camps for refugees from Europe

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has categorically rejected a proposal on the possible creation of camps to house refugees from European countries in the states of the Southern Mediterranean, including Egypt.

According to him, even discussing such an initiative is "unacceptable."

At a meeting with EU ambassadors, the minister also spoke about the difficulties Egypt faces in hosting millions of refugees and asylum seekers amid crises, wars, and conflicts in the region.

Abdelatty stressed that this problem must be resolved through a comprehensive approach aimed at eliminating the root causes of migration and promoting development, including by creating employment and educational opportunities.
