Maia Bitadze appointed as Georgia's new minister of culture
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has appointed member of parliament Maia Bitadze as minister of culture.
The head of government introduced the new minister at a briefing that was broadcast by local television channels.
"Today Maia Bitadze was appointed minister of culture. She does not need any special introduction. I will emphasize that she has particular experience in management and has held high positions for many years," Kobakhidze said.
Until now, the 49-year-old Bitadze headed the parliamentary committee on environmental protection and natural resources. In the past she worked as deputy minister of environment and agriculture and as deputy mayor of Tbilisi. Since 2020 she has been a member of the Georgian parliament.
It should be noted that the former head of the ministry, Tinatin Rukhadze, resigned on July 28 of this year.
