Powerful explosions rock an ammunition depot in Syria: there are casualties - VIDEO
Explosions occurred in Aleppo, Syria; they could be heard from the direction of the Al-Eis district on the outskirts of the city.
As the head of the civil defense service, Faisal Mohammed Ali, told the Al-Ikhbariya television channel, there is a military depot there where ammunition detonated.
"Information has come in about fatalities and injured people," he noted. "However, rescue teams and ambulances are still unable to approach the scene of the incident to retrieve them."
Raed al-Saleh, the minister of emergency situations and disaster management in the Arab republic's transitional government, specified that at least four people were injured.
"These are only preliminary figures, the detonation of ammunition is continuing," he reported. "Our teams are deployed in the Al-Eis district south of the city, where the depot is located. Access to the scene of the incident is still difficult," he told the television channel.
Al-Saleh warned the population of the need to stay away from the danger zone. "We call on citizens to follow our instructions, stay at home, not take photographs and not approach the depot," the minister indicated. According to him, the roads to Al-Eis are completely closed, and the area has been cordoned off by security forces.
