Rubio explains the conditions for investment in Greenland

The issue of investment in Greenland will be decided with the approval of the United States in accordance with the agreement reached on the island.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this in an interview with Fox News.

"Under this agreement, which is now in effect indefinitely, no adversary of the United States will ever be able to invest there without our approval and their (Greenland's and Denmark's) approval," Rubio said.

The secretary of state recalled that the arrangements also give the United States access to build new military facilities in Greenland that are necessary to create a missile defense shield for North America.

Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump and the prime ministers of Denmark and Greenland, Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen, signed an agreement concerning the transfer to the United States of obligations to ensure the security of the Arctic island. The signing of the deal took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. Earlier, Trump noted that the American side would immediately begin building up its military presence on the Arctic island.
