Cuba warns the U.S. of the consequences of military force
The use of military force by the United States against Cuba would be a serious violation of international law, said the republic's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío.
"The use of military force against Cuba — a peaceful neighboring country — would be a monstrous international crime," he said in an interview with the American television channel C-SPAN.
According to Fernández de Cossío, it would be naive for the Cuban authorities not to take into account the possibility that the threats from the United States could be carried out and not to prepare for such a scenario.
The deputy foreign minister also reported that in recent months Cuban representatives have held contacts and meetings with the American government, but they have not led to significant progress. At the same time, he noted, Havana is ready to engage with Washington on the basis of mutual respect.
