Axios: Trump gives Iran a few days to return to the negotiating table

The U.S. administration intends to give Iran a few days to return to the negotiating table, otherwise hostilities may resume.

This was reported by the Axios portal, citing sources.

According to one of them, "Trump is ready to extend the truce for another three to five days to allow the Iranians to get their affairs in order." The extension of the ceasefire "will not be indefinite," the source added.

According to a U.S. official, "it was decided to give diplomatic efforts a little more time."

U.S. President Donald Trump earlier announced on the social network Truth Social his intention to extend the ceasefire with Iran, which was set to expire in the coming hours. Meanwhile, Mahdi Mohammadi, an advisor to the speaker of the Majlis (parliament) of Iran, stated that the ceasefire extension announced by Washington is a ploy and will allow the U.S. to prepare a new surprise strike on the Islamic Republic. Mohammadi believes that the U.S., as the losing side, "cannot dictate terms."
