Number of people wanting to move to the US drops to record low
The number of foreigners wishing to move to the US has dropped to a record low, according to a survey by the American sociological service Gallup released on April 24.
According to the study, only 15% of respondents are considering moving to the United States. For comparison, in 2007–2009, this figure was 24%, and in 2017, it was 18%. The US remains the most attractive destination for migration among residents of Latin American countries, the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
At the same time, the number of Americans considering leaving the country has increased. According to Gallup, 40% of American women under 45 are thinking about moving abroad. In 2014, only 10% of respondents in this group gave such a response. The survey was conducted among 144,000 people in 140 countries.
