Pentagon chief tells allies 'free ride is over'

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth stated that the United States is no longer willing to single-handedly ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz.

The broadcast is available on the YouTube channel of the U.S. Department of War.

'Europe and Asia have benefited from our protection for decades, but the free ride is over,' he said.

Hegseth added that European leaders should pay less attention to 'showy conferences' and take a more active role in practical operations, figuratively urging them to 'get in the boats.' 'This is more their fight than ours,' the Pentagon chief emphasized.

Earlier, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that, for the first time since 2003, three American aircraft carriers have been simultaneously deployed in the Middle East.
