President of Moldova believes that joining Romania would allow faster entry into the EU
President of Moldova Maia Sandu believes that her country joining Romania would allow Chisinau to enter the European Union more quickly.
“This would enable us to join the EU faster and could help us,” Sandu stated in an interview with the newspaper Le Monde, noting that she also holds Romanian citizenship. At the same time, she emphasized that “such a decision must be made by the majority of citizens.”
Speaking about alternative paths to EU membership, Sandu indicated that she considers the possibility of the country joining the community without the unrecognized region of Transnistria. “This is a possible solution,” she said.
