Axios: Pentagon to hold briefing for Trump on new strikes against Iran

The head of the U.S. Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, will hold a special briefing for American President Donald Trump on April 30 regarding new potential scenarios for resuming military action against Iran.

This was reported by the Axios portal, citing its own sources.

"This briefing indicates that Trump is seriously considering the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations, either to break the deadlock in the negotiation process or to deliver a final blow before ending the conflict," the portal noted.

As Axios sources indicated, the Pentagon has prepared a plan for a "short and powerful" wave of strikes on Iran in hopes of overcoming the deadlock in dialogue. According to the portal, after a series of attacks, the U.S. aims to pressure Iranian leadership to "return to the negotiating table and show greater flexibility."

Another scenario for resuming military action, which will be presented to the president, involves "seizing part of the Strait of Hormuz" to open this waterway for commercial shipping. "Such an operation could involve the deployment of ground forces," Axios emphasized. Another option includes the use of special forces to seize stockpiles of highly enriched nuclear fuel from the Islamic Republic.

As the portal's sources reported, the briefing for the president will also be attended by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Kane.
