Suspect arrested in the Netherlands for preparing assassination attempt on crown princess
Law enforcement authorities in the Netherlands have arrested a suspect in connection with preparing an assassination attempt on Crown Princess Amalia and her sister, Princess Alexia.
The news was reported by the newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, citing information from the prosecutor's office.
According to the prosecutor's office, the suspect is a 33-year-old native of The Hague. Investigators believe he began planning the assassination in February. During a search of the suspect's property, authorities found two axes with the names of the princesses and fascist greetings carved into them, as well as a piece of paper with notes mentioning the monarch's daughters and an intention to carry out a 'bloody massacre.' The first court hearing in this case is scheduled for May 4.
As the publication recalls, in 2022, Princess Amalia had already received threats, which forced her to abandon living in student housing in Amsterdam. At that time, security measures for her protection were strengthened. It is not specified whether security measures will be enhanced at this time.
