Trump: Iran's oil infrastructure could suffer colossal damage

U.S. President Donald Trump suggests that Iran's oil infrastructure could suffer colossal damage due to a reduction in oil production.

"They (Iran) have a problem because the situation is extremely volatile in many ways. You see, when oil production stops <...>, especially underground - in almost 100% of cases, it literally explodes and destroys everything around. And that oil can never be recovered. In other words, you might recover 30-40%, but it will never be the same as it is now. If this happens, it will cause enormous damage to the country's oil system," the head of state said in a conversation with radio host Hugh Hewitt.

Earlier, Iraq reduced oil production due to overfilled storage facilities and export issues through the Strait of Hormuz caused by the conflict surrounding Iran. Some supplies continue to be transported via a pipeline through Turkey, but their volumes remain significantly lower than maritime shipments, according to Bloomberg.
