Vucic: Decision on election timing in Serbia to be made within 10 days

The decision on the timing of elections in Serbia will be made within the next 10 days.

This was announced by the country's president, Aleksandar Vucic, during a broadcast on the Informer television channel.

"In any case, we will have a decision in about ten days. When it comes to elections, there are no traps. Here, the people decide what kind of future they want and to whom they want to entrust it. I believe that elections are a very important matter. As I have always said, the state is not a toy, and elections are extremely important, always," Vucic stated.

The Serbian leader emphasized that citizens, in choosing their future, should support those who "will best preserve and protect the interests of the country." According to him, it is about the fate of millions of people, not about his personal political fate or that of other representatives of power.

The president noted that much has been achieved in the past period, and the economic cycle has shown "exceptional real results," but due to changing circumstances in the world, many processes need to be adjusted and accelerated.

Earlier, the Serbian leader had suggested that snap parliamentary elections in Serbia could take place in two months or in six months. The speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, reported that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party will propose Vucic as its candidate for prime minister in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
