We live in the real Armenia: How Ararat Mirzoyan brought the diaspora down to earth
Many in the diaspora dream of Armenia within its 'historical borders,' but it must be understood that 'we live in the real Armenia.'
This was the response of Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during the 'Yerevan Dialogue' when asked about the interaction between the authorities and the diaspora.
The minister believes that constant references to 'historical Armenia' will lead to conflicts with neighbors.
'Many representatives of the diaspora want to see historical Armenia, a great Armenia (...) But today, these are just dreams; this is not the real Armenia. We live in this specific region, specifically with these neighbors, and we do not want conflict for another few decades or centuries,' Mirzoyan stated.
In this regard, the perspective of the residents of Armenia itself may differ from the position of Armenians in the diaspora, according to Mirzoyan.
