Searches conducted in regional office of Karapetyan's party in Armenia
The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia is conducting investigative actions at the office of the "Strong Armenia" party in Maralik, according to Armenian media.
Earlier reports mentioned searches at several addresses in the Ani community of Shirak Province. Specifically, investigative actions are taking place at the party’s office in Maralik, the administrative center of the community.
"We confirm that investigative actions are being carried out at the specified addresses within the framework of a criminal case under articles of the Criminal Code related to giving and receiving pre-election bribes, as well as several other charges," the committee stated.
The leader of the "Strong Armenia" party is Russian oligarch of Armenian origin Samvel Karapetyan, who, ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, announced his renunciation of all citizenships except Armenian.
Currently, he is under house arrest.
