Armenian CEC: Citizens abroad will be able to vote in elections only upon returning to the country

Citizens of Armenia who permanently reside abroad will be able to participate in parliamentary elections only with their personal presence on the territory of the country.

This was reported by the press secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia, Seda Gukasyan.

She recalled that after amendments to the Electoral Code in 2012, Armenian citizens abroad do not vote at polling stations at embassies and consulates but can exercise their right to vote only in the country itself.

The exception applies to diplomats, military personnel on long-term assignments or studying abroad, as well as their family members. Electronic voting is provided for them.

According to the CEC, parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7, with 17 parties and two party blocs participating.
