Trump arrives in Beijing
U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing on Wednesday for a three-day state visit, which became the first visit by an American leader to China in nine years, China Central Television reported.
Trump's plane landed at Beijing Capital International Airport on Wednesday evening Beijing time.
Trump's state visit to China will run from May 13 to 15, during which he will visit only Beijing; no trips to other cities in China have been reported.
According to the schedule released by the White House, the U.S. president has no events planned in Beijing for Wednesday. On Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping will receive the American leader at the Great Hall of the People at 10:00 a.m. local time (5:00 a.m. Moscow time), where they will hold a bilateral meeting at 10:15 a.m. (5:15 a.m. Moscow time). After the meeting, the leaders of the two countries will attend an official banquet at 6:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. Moscow time).
On Friday, Trump and Xi Jinping will hold a joint photo session at 11:30 a.m. (6:30 a.m. Moscow time), followed by a joint tea ceremony at 11:40 a.m. (6:40 a.m. Moscow time) and a bilateral lunch at 12:15 p.m. (7:15 a.m. Moscow time), after which Trump will head back to Washington.
Trump's previous visit to China took place November 8-11, 2017, during his first term; Joe Biden did not visit China during his presidency.
