About 20 terrorists detained in Iran in the southeast of the country

Employees of Iran's intelligence ministry detained 19 members of four terrorist cells in the southeast of the country.

Iranian media report this, citing the ministry.

"Employees… of the supreme intelligence directorate of Sistan and Baluchestan province managed to detect and detain 19 terrorists who are members of four cells under the direct control of the American-Zionist enemy (USA and Israel – ed.), before they managed to take any actions," the statement says.

It is noted that during the detention, a DShK machine gun, two RPG-7s with seven rounds for them, an American M4 automatic rifle, five Kalashnikov assault rifles, six Colt pistols, and a large amount of ammunition were discovered and confiscated.

Most of the detainees are foreigners; they were recruited and trained in terrorist groups abroad, after which they infiltrated the IRI.

The United States and Israel began striking targets on Iranian territory on February 28. Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire on April 8, but the United States began a blockade of Iranian ports, and Iran announced the establishment of special transit rules through the Strait of Hormuz. Due to the escalation of the conflict, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has practically stopped.
