Kobakhidze: EU will not succeed in pitting Georgia and Armenia against each other

“We maximally support our friendly country Armenia and the Armenian people,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on the air of “Imedi LIVE.”

Irakli Kobakhidze responded to the question about “what impression the attitude of certain forces in Brussels toward Georgia and Armenia makes on him.”

“As for the comparison with Armenia, this is a somewhat uncomfortable topic for us, because we are neighbors, we have very friendly relations and a strategic partnership. Based on this, it is wrong for us to compare ourselves with Armenia. We, of course, will not do this — it would be incorrect.

But in general, I will assess those attempts that we see both from the local agents and their foreign patrons to somehow oppose us to Armenia, including through comparisons. This will not have any success in any aspect and in any direction. We maximally support our friendly country Armenia and the Armenian people. This is the only thing we can say regarding Armenia.

I want to thank Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who shows a special attitude toward Georgia, and this is expressed in friendly relations, including directly between the governments. He even directly said that without Georgia, talks about Armenia’s European integration would be unthinkable.

You remember what statement one of the European high-ranking officials made after that. He said that Armenia is the shortest path connecting Central Asia with Europe. Apparently, along with economic stagnation and other “benefits,” European bureaucrats are not too strong in geography lessons either,” stated the prime minister.
