43 cases initiated in Armenia for electoral violations
Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee presented a summary of violations during the pre-election period (starting February 7).
It notes that since that time, 43 criminal cases have been initiated and 134 searches have been conducted. Sixty-seven people have been detained, criminal prosecution has been initiated against 75 people, and two suspects have been put on the wanted list.
Another 32 people have been arrested or placed under house arrest, and alternative preventive measures have been applied to 29 detainees.
The Anti-Corruption Committee stated that the cases were initiated for "giving and receiving electoral bribes, mediation in the transfer of bribes, violation of the ban on charity during elections, as well as obstructing the exercise of electoral rights and material incentives for citizens to participate in meetings."
It is also noted that searches were conducted, including in 24 offices of various political forces, and about 170 people were questioned.
