Islamabad insists that Beijing act as guarantor of the future agreement between Washington and Tehran.

This was reported by the Al Hadath TV channel, citing sources.

According to their information, the main mediator in the negotiation process between Iran and the US, commander of the Pakistani Armed Forces Asim Munir is in Beijing together with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who began a four-day official visit to China on Saturday. Sources confirmed that Munir accompanied him at a meeting with Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Qiang.

On February 28, the US and Israel began a war against Iran. On April 7, US President Donald Trump announced a two-week mutual ceasefire with the Islamic Republic. On April 11, Tehran and Washington held negotiations in Islamabad, but did not reach an agreement on the issue of a long-term settlement of the conflict. On April 21, the US president reported his intention to extend the ceasefire regime. On May 19, he stated that the United States is ready to give diplomacy a chance, postponing the resumption of hostilities. On May 23, the American leader noted that the draft of the future agreement with Iran has been generally agreed upon, but the next day he clarified that the parties have not yet reached final agreements on some issues.
