In the US they announced a strike allegedly on a drug traffickers' vessel
American military forces carried out another strike on May 26 on a vessel presumably used for drug trafficking in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean.
The US Southern Command reported this.
"Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was traveling along known drug smuggling routes in the eastern Pacific Ocean and was used for drug trafficking," the command said on X.
As noted, one person died as a result of the strike, and two survived. In connection with this, the Southern Command notified the Coast Guard of the need to "activate the search and rescue system."
American servicemen were not injured.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced the launch of Operation "Southern Spear" to combat drug cartels in November 2025.
