U.S. says it is ready to do everything to bring Raul Castro to the country

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that he is ready to do everything possible to bring one of the leaders of the Cuban revolution, Army General Raul Castro, before an American court.

"We need Castro to be here (in the U.S. - TASS note) and appear in court. <...> We will do everything possible to bring him here," he said in an interview with Fox News.

Blanche recalled the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the U.S. armed forces, calling it an "extreme example." "Usually we do this with the help of extradition and cooperation with international partners," the official said.

The U.S. Justice Department had previously brought charges against Castro, accusing him of murdering four people, destroying two aircraft, and conspiring to kill U.S. citizens. The charges are related to the 1996 incident when Cuban air forces shot down two planes belonging to the Miami-based emigrant organization "Brothers to the Rescue." Along with Castro, five other people are defendants in the case. According to Blanche, the U.S. Justice Department expects the 94-year-old Castro to appear in court "voluntarily or by other means."
