Volodin: EU will not fulfill its promises to Armenia for European integration

Armenia will not receive benefits and assistance in development from the European Union if it decides to join it. It will be treated the same way as Ukraine was treated at one time, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin stated.

The politician recalled that one of the arguments for Ukraine's accession to the EU was "development prospects."

"In reality, Ukrainian agricultural products were essentially never allowed onto European markets, with strict and unfavorable tariff quotas imposed on them. The same awaits Armenia," Volodin wrote on Max.

"Pashinyan has probably taken a personal commitment to join Armenia to the EU and is fulfilling it. At the same time, he is trying to shift all the costs of accession onto the EAEU and Russia," Volodin also wrote.

The politician pointed out exactly what Armenia's exit from the EAEU would entail. "For residents, gas will become almost four times more expensive; cross-border money transfers to Armenia from Russia, which today amount to almost $4 billion per year (two-thirds of all transfers), will be sharply reduced; migration benefits for entry into Russia will be canceled, and employment will only be possible with patents; supplies from Armenia of flowers, berries, fruits, vegetables (including peppers), fish, alcohol, and mineral water to our country will be suspended," the State Duma chairman stated.
