SVR: in Europe they push Armenian authorities toward persecution of Yerevan-Armenian diocese of ROC
In the EU they are fabricating compromising material on representatives of the Yerevan-Armenian diocese of the ROC in order to prompt the Armenian authorities to launch large-scale persecution against it, the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) stated.
"According to information available to the SVR, at present so-called European partners are fabricating compromising material against other representatives of the Yerevan-Armenian diocese of the ROC in order to prompt the Armenian authorities to launch large-scale persecution against it," the press bureau statement said.
The SVR recalled how the European Union carried out a crude attack on the rector of the Archangel Michael chapel at the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, Russian Orthodox Church priest Timofey Kazaryan.
"NGOs fed by Brussels, the Union of Informed Citizens and the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly, accused the modest priest of nothing less than interference in the parliamentary elections scheduled in Armenia for June 7 this year," the SVR clarified.
