Special police units deployed to Armenia's CEC building
Special police units, known as "black berets," have been deployed to the building of Armenia's Central Election Commission in Yerevan amid calls from the opposition, in particular the Prosperous Armenia party, for rallies, a TASS correspondent reports from the scene.
More than a dozen "black berets" are already at the building, blocking the central entrance and also positioned in the adjacent area. The situation near the Central Election Commission remains calm so far.
Earlier, Prosperous Armenia spokeswoman Iveta Tonoyan called on party supporters to gather at the CEC building at 1 p.m. local time to hold a protest against violations that, in her opinion, occurred during the recent parliamentary elections.
