Israel will retain control over buffer zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza
Israel will not make compromises on issues of ensuring its security on the borders, so the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will retain control over the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, said Defense Minister Israel Katz.
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I are pursuing a clear policy according to which the IDF will remain in the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza for an unlimited period in order to protect the border and Israeli settlements from jihadist groups from there," Katz said, whose words were distributed by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
According to Katz, this position was explained to U.S. President Donald Trump, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other senior officials.
"We will not compromise on the vital security interests of Israel and the protection of our citizens and will not leave the security zones," the minister said.
