Armenia to toughen punishment for election bribery and change deputies' oath
We and our colleagues have put forward 3 new legislative initiatives.
Parliament Speaker of Armenia Alen Simonyan stated this in a video on his Facebook page.
According to him, the National Assembly of this convocation will have time to consider them and put them to a vote in the coming days or through an extraordinary vote.
As Simonyan noted, the first initiative concerns giving and receiving pre-election bribes. According to him, the punishment for this will be toughened: if previously up to 7 years of imprisonment was provided for receiving and 8 years for giving pre-election bribes, now a term of 9 and 10 years of imprisonment will be established respectively.
The second legislative initiative provides for the mandatory installation of the Armenian flag at the entrances to all populated areas.
The third legislative initiative, according to Simonyan, is historic and important.
“Changes will be made to the Regulations, the text of the deputies' oath will be changed. It will become much more in tune with today's reality, today's real state, our legislation, and the text will also be about moments characteristic of the Armenian people and important for the Armenian people,” concluded the Speaker of the National Assembly.
