The countries of the Group of Seven (G7) advocate for the development of a comprehensive agreement between the US and Iran following a bilateral memorandum of understanding.

This is stated in a joint statement on geopolitical issues by the leaders of the Group of Seven countries, whose meeting is taking place in France.

As follows from the document, the countries "strongly support" the development of a "comprehensive diplomatic agreement that would follow the memorandum of understanding" between the US and Iran and could "ensure peace and security throughout the region." "We emphasize the need to conduct negotiations on this to counter threats emanating from Iran in the region and beyond, as well as to ensure guarantees that this country will never obtain nuclear weapons," the statement notes. "We agree that these negotiations would be facilitated by the participation of regional and international partners, including the IAEA."

The document emphasizes that the Group of Seven countries support an "immediate ceasefire" in Lebanon, efforts by the authorities of this country to disarm the forces of the Shiite organization Hezbollah and "protect Lebanon's territorial integrity and sovereignty with appropriate international security guarantees."

Officials from the US, Iran and Pakistan, acting as mediator, confirmed the achievement of an agreement between Washington and Tehran designed to end the war in the Middle East. The ceremonial signing of the document is planned to take place in Geneva on June 19. According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, during the 60-day truce the parties will discuss, among other things, Tehran's nuclear program, from June 15 the end of the US naval blockade of Iran is announced, as well as the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. The US and Israel began the war with Iran on February 28.
