Turkey states readiness to assist in demining Strait of Hormuz
Turkish Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler stated that his country is ready to perform demining tasks in the Strait of Hormuz.
“Events in this region directly affect not only regional but also global security. Turkey welcomes the ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran. We are ready to provide support in demining the Strait of Hormuz if necessary,” he told Turkish journalists in Brussels, where he participated in a meeting of alliance defense ministers. The minister is quoted by the A Haber TV channel.
Guler also stated that Turkey, as a country contributing to regional and global security, is ready to provide the necessary support for initiatives aimed at ensuring maritime security and navigation safety within the framework of international law.
“Turkey thanks to its location on the southern flank of NATO is one of the leading allies directly countering regional threats, and also makes a significant contribution to the alliance thanks to its growing power. Today’s security situation shows that the southern flank is not only a peripheral but also a central security issue,” the minister said.
