In DR Congo, number of Ebola cases exceeds 950

The number of confirmed cases of Ebola fever in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reached 956, with the number of deaths at 247.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the DRC.

In the epicenter of the current outbreak - Ituri province - 23 new cases of the disease and two deaths were registered per day, it notes. There are 391 patients in hospitals and medical isolation wards. 92 people have fully recovered.

The most severe epidemic situation continues to persist in the epicenter of the outbreak - Ituri province. It accounts for 874 cases of Ebola and 201 deaths, which is 91% of the total number.

The level of tracking contacts of Ebola patients has reached 69.3%. The World Health Organization requires this figure to be 95%.

The current outbreak of Ebola fever occurred in eastern DR Congo on May 15. There are cases of illness and death from Ebola in neighboring Uganda.
